Enjoy a Serene Lyric Video for "Everything She Said" by J Mascis

J Mascis Elastic Days

September 19, 2018 | by Jocelyn Hoppa

The second single release from J Mascis' upcoming solo album Elastic Days (November 9th via Sup Pop) is here in the form of a meditative lyric video. Longtime fans of J — for some of us, he's been bringing us happiness for over half of our lifetimes — won't be surprised to find some truly beautiful, melodic, and minimal tracks here. Check it.

J says of what what be one surprise on this record:

"The biggest different with this record might have to do with the drums. I'd just gotten a new drum set I was really excited about. I don't have too many drum outlets at the moment, so I played a lot more drums than I'd originally planned. I just kept playing. [laughs] I'd play the acoustic guitar parts then head right to the drums."

Like his past solo albums, Elastic Days was recorded in J's own Bisquiteen studio, and it's a mostly solo affair. Ken Miauri plays keyboards and there are a few vocal guest spots that include Pall Jenkins of the Black Heart Procession, Mark Mulcahy of Miracle Legion (etc.), and Zoë Randell of Luluc among some others.

The first single released is a jangly, dreamy tune titled "See You At the Movies." Pre-order Elastic Days over at the Sub Pop Mega Mart.
