They Belong in a Museum? Janet, Radiohead, Devo Among 2019 Rock Hall Nominees

Janet Jackson is Rock Hall Nominee

October 9, 2018 | by James Greene, Jr.

Congrats to Janet Jackson, Radiohead, the Cure, Rage Against the Machine, The MC5, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, Rufus & Chaka Khan, and The Zombies — it's the second time all have been nominated for Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Next year's potential class also includes many notable virgin nominees: Stevie Nicks, Roxy Music, Devo, John Prine, Todd Rundgren, and Def Leppard. In December the Rock Hall's Council of Nine (or whomever it is that governs this donnybrook) will reveal who has made the cut; until then, us plebes can do some fun online voting at their website, RockHall.com.

Now let the rancor begin over who wasn't nominated in their first year of eligibility (25 years after their first "commercial" release). OutKast, the Roots, the Fugees, Snoop Dogg, Jeff Buckley, Beck, and Dave Matthews Band, why have you been forsaken? When will our planet stop disrespecting Beck and André 3000? Don't feel so glum, folks. The Doodletown Pipers still haven't been nominated and they released their debut record in 1967!
