Yuimetal Exits BabyMetal, Group Releases New Single

In May, the BabyMetal devoted felt pangs of worry as core member Yuimetal did not appear at the first concert date of a U.S. tour. Management eventually confirmed that the pint sized singer "remain[ed] a member of the band" but would not appear at any stop on this live jaunt, adding cryptically "a new narrative for the future of the band...is currently evolving." That narrative has now evolved to exclude Yuimetal, who announced her departure from BabyMetal last week citing health issues.
"I am truly sorry for the inconvenience I have caused so many people due to being absent for an extended period of time," she said in a statement. "I have mulled over this over and over again, but I have decided to leave BabyMetal at this time. I feel very sorry that my decision will disturb the other members and some many fans who have supported BabyMetal. I am further terribly sorry to sadden the fans who have supported BabyMetal.
"I have the strong desire to appear on stage again but my physical condition is not at its best even now, and further I feel I would like to pursue my dream, one that I have had from a long time ago, of going on my own as Mizuno Yui. It is these factors that lead to my decision."
Yuimetal went on to express gratitude for the "numerous and precious experiences" she enjoyed as a part of BabyMetal, saying that "day to day" she felt "truly blessed." "The live shows where we all smiled together and became as one were truly happy and enjoyable times. I will do my utmost best to be able to again one day meet all of you as Mizuno Yui. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the last eight years."
The exact nature of Yuimetal's illness is unknown but of course we all wish her a speedy recovery. She continues to be managed by Amuse, the Japanese entertainment company that also works with BabyMetal.
Moving forward, the remaining BabyMetal members Su-Metal and Moametal have released a new single, "Starlight," which doesn't lose a step from their classic cute death sound.
Babymetal is playing select dates in Japan this month. Last night they kicked things off at the Makuhari Messe convention center just outside Tokyo. On October 28th, they'll appear at Saitama Super Arena for a "festival type" event that promises to be a "special night to remember for all attendees" before doing two gigs at Kobe World Hall beginning on October 30th.
On December 4th, BabyMetal will open for Judas Priest in Singapore, and Australians will get a chance to see them starting December 7th as part of the Good Things festival.
