#DoomMetalMonday: Burning Witch, "Crippled Lucifer"

Burning Witch

July 31, 2017 | by Jocelyn Hoppa

Active during the fertile musical years between 1995 and 1998, Seattle's Burning Witch only recorded one full-length studio album, Crippled Lucifer (Seven Psalms for Our Lord of Light). In terms of doom, you can't get more doom-y and drone-y than Stephen O'Malley, who was in Thorr's Hammer prior to Burning Witch, and also went on with Greg Anderson to form Sunn O))).

Crippled Lucifer, a classic doom record. Low frequency distortion, evil spirit vocals, sonic and nailed-down heavy. This ain't always easy to listen to, but if you appreciate the crushing sludge and sweeping disgust and enmity of doom metal to envelope your Monday like we do, this one will kick your ass sideways.
