Corgan Confirms Pumpkins Might Play "Batman & Robin" Song on Oh So Bright Tour
February 23, 2018 | by James Greene, Jr.
This morning Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan shared the group's "pool of PROPOSED songs" for 2018's Shiny And Oh So Bright tour, a.k.a. the Smashing Pumpkins reunion tour loudly omitting founding bassist D'arcy Wretzky. The requisite hits swirl about the pool — "Cherub Rock,' "Today," "Zero." Also present are several cover song selections that speak volumes about this band, like "Stairway to Heaven" and the incredibly on the nose "Love Will Tear Us Apart."
1997 stans will be elated to see Corgan has included "The Beginning Is the End [Is the Beginning]" on his list, one of two cuts Billy et al contributed to the soundtrack of that year's franchise-killing Batman & Robin (the other of course being "The End Is the Beginning Is the End"). Put on your Vans and sway to the memory of Chris O'Donnell!
In his Instagram post, Corgan encourages fans to make their own setlist suggestions. Hey, how about your cover of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" that you contributed to Kevin & Bean's 1994 No Toys For O.J. cassette?
The Shiny And Oh So Bright tour kicks off on July 12 in Glendale, Arizona. For a full list of D'arcy-less tour dates, visit Smashing Pumpkins dot com.
