Happy Birthday to Wu-Tang's "C.R.E.A.M."

January 31, 2019 | by James Greene, Jr.

On this date 25 years ago, Wu-Tang Clan released "C.R.E.A.M.", the third single from their debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and their most indelible hit to date. The gritty tales of urban hardship set to lilting piano solidified Wu-Tang as legends the world over. The truth is in the YouTube comments: "I heard a taxi driver in Krakow, Poland blasting this song. I was shocked."

Snippets of "C.R.E.A.M." can of course be heard in the recent trailer for Of Mics and Men, the four part documentary on Wu-Tang Clan that Showtime will air this Spring. Will the secrets of Wu-Tang finally be revealed? Fingers crossed!
